Showit vs. Squarespace: The Ultimate Platform Showdown for Solopreneurs
Let’s roll up our sleeves and demystify the eternal question of the solopreneur design world: Showit or Squarespace? Because if you’re like most bootstrapping bosses out here, you’ve probably spent more time debating these platforms than actually, you know, launching your brand. So let’s make this decision easy, yeah? Grab your grain-free cookies and a cozy seat because I’m about to give you the lowdown—no fluff, just the real stuff.
Showit is that artsy kid in high school who doodled in their notebook instead of taking notes but still somehow aced every art class. This platform is fully customizable, and I mean fully. It’s drag-and-drop heaven, with the freedom to put things anywhere you want, making it perfect for solopreneurs who want a site that’s anything but basic. Here’s the lowdown:
In short, Showit is ideal if you have a design eye, crave creative expression via your website, don’t like being told what to do, and have time to invest in design.
If Showit’s the free-spirited artist, Squarespace is the practical and sensible sister. It’s a bit more structured and easier to use.
Go with Showit if you want full creative freedom, don’t mind a learning curve, and want a site that’ll make people pause and stare for a minute. It’s ideal for the solopreneur who sees branding as an art form.
Pick Squarespace if you want a polished, professional site without the hassle. It’s perfect for the coach or consultant who needs to get up and running quickly without sacrificing too much style
So, Showit or Squarespace?
At the end of the day, both are powerful and can make you look like a pro. Both are better than relying on your FB page, Linktree, or that creepy platform that came with your accounting software.

Hi Kelli,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the two platforms! I’m assuming your review is based on building your website from scratch?
But what if you’re purchasing templates, where you just have to populate with your content? Is one platform better than the other to use?
I’ve seen a Showit template I really like, but don’t want the tech issues, if it’s a harder template/platform to use in the backend than Squarespace (which I haven’t used either).
I’m launching a coaching business in a few months, and looking to create my first DIY website.
Would love your thoughts, seeing you’ve used both platforms for creating templates for clients to purchase.
Thanks!
Catherine
Hey Catherine- thanks for your comment. I do think Squarspace is slightly easier to design on even with a template. However, you lose a lot of creative freedom on Squarespace. Honestly, both platforms have a learning curve. They both take a minute to get use to, so choose the platform that works best for your business. PS I just opened my template shop if you’re interested in more Showit templates 🙂 https://squarepeg-studio.com/shop-templates
